Sources state that Beattie’s Toyota sedan drove over railroad tracks and then collided with another vehicle being driven by Brittany Kohls. Kohls was stopped at a stop sign on Walton Road at the time.

Both vehicles were sent over Indian River Drive and down a 30-foot embankment where they landed in the Indian River Lagoon. A silver Toyota truck was also clipped by one of the vehicles before they went over the embankment.
