Pembroke Pines, FL (May 11, 2021) – Rescue crews in Pembroke Pines worked diligently to extricate a teenager who was pinned underneath a van after being hit while riding his bike on May 11. The teen later lost his life due to injuries he sustained in the crash, according to officials.
The incident was reported to officials at around 5:30 p.m. in the 15800 block of Pines Boulevard near the Westfork Plaza. The 15-year-old was dragged approximately 30 yards due to the impact of the crash, according to information from reports.
The teenager was pronounced deceased on Monday at Memorial Regional Hospital. The person who struck him was identified as 68-year-old Joan Ferris Berkowitz.
