Boca Raton, FL (May 31, 2021) – Two 13-year-olds and an 18-year-old driver were among five individuals who lost their lives in an auto accident in Boca Raton early Sunday morning, May 30. According to reports, five others sustained serious injuries, all children between 12 and 14.
The occupants of a Mercedes-Benz, identified as two adults, were also killed in the collision. Information from officials states that a 2013 Hyundai Genesis was headed east on Camino Real at high speeds around 12:35 a.m. on May 30. The Hyundai was carrying eight young people, two in the front and six in the rear.
The Hyundai was speeding east on Camino Real near the intersection with Sanibel Drive when the vehicle spun out of control. It veered onto the center median and collided with a light pole. It then rolled into the westbound lanes of Camino Real and landed on a Mercedes-Benz carrying an adult woman and man.
All six of the young passengers in the Hyundai’s back seat were ejected from the car. The driver, identified as 18-year-old Ramiro Gomez, a Deerfield Beach resident, along with two 13-year-olds, lost their lives at the scene.
The injured children were identified as residents of Boca Raton and Delray Beach. The two people present in the Mercedes-Benz, a 58-year-old man and a 55-year-old female were transported to Delray Medical Center where they were later pronounced deceased.
Police continue to investigate the details of the wreck.
