Florida Motorcycle Accidents

Florida sees more motorcycle accidents than nearly any other state in the nation. The number of fatalities and injuries that result from these wrecks is extremely alarming. On average, more than 10,000 motorcycle collisions happen yearly in the Sunshine State, causing more than 8,200 injuries. According to statistics provided by the US Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, more than 500 people lost their lives in motorcycle accidents in Florida in 2016.

Fatal motorcycle accidents throughout the United States increased from a low of just over 2,100 deaths a year to over 4,500 from 1997 to 2015, reaching an all-time high of well over 5,000 in 2007. The yearly national average now ranges between 4,300 to 4,800. According to these annual amounts, the number of motorcycle deaths in the United States has more than doubled during this time frame.
