Indian River County, FL (May 29, 2021) – A bicyclist lost his life this past Saturday morning in Indian River County. According to reports from officials, the male victim was fatally struck by a vehicle.
Sources state that the accident happened on A1A at Wildlife Way near Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge. The cyclist was identified as a Vero Beach Man, aged 63.
Police stated that the driver of the vehicle involved failed to maintain control and swerved over onto the shoulder of the roadway where the man was riding his bike. The victim was transported to Sebastian Medical Center where he later died as a result of his injuries.
The northbound lanes of A1A were shut down for an extended period of time while police investigated the crash scene. Traffic delays were observed in the area for an extended period of time.
