Hialeah Gardens, FL (November 10, 2021) – Police in Florida are currently investigating a fatal traffic crash involving a pickup truck that collided with a pedestrian, a school bus, and three other vehicles. The wreck was reported just before 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 9. 

Officers with the Florida Highway Patrol say that the pickup was headed south on SR-826 when it got on the exit ramp to Northwest 103rd Street. Just then, the truck collided with a pedestrian. The pedestrian lost their life in the crash, according to reports. 

The driver kept going and came to the intersection of 103rd Street and Northwest 77th Avenue where it struck a Hialeah Gardens Middle School bus, a Ford sedan, an Audi sedan, and a Honda sedan. 

The driver of the Audi, identified as 19-year-old Alejandro Ruiz, was airlifted to the Ryder Trauma Center with severe injuries. It was reported that his face was fractured in the collision. 

The Ford driver and a baby also required transportation by helicopter to an area hospital for treatment. Footage from the scene shows the female driver on a stretcher with a baby on her chest, according to information from local sources. 

Those on the school bus suffered minor injuries, police said. The roadways were closed for several hours while authorities worked to investigate the circumstances of the wreck and assist injured parties. 

The identity of the deceased pedestrian has not been released at this time.
