Fort Lauderdale, FL (August 31, 2021) – A fatal auto accident led to the temporary closure of all lanes of a roadway in Fort Lauderdale on August 31. The wreck was reported to officials in the area in the early morning hours.

According to reports concerning the incident, it took place on North Hiatus Road near West Broward Boulevard and West Sunrise Boulevard in Plantation. Two vehicles were spotted in the middle of the roadway near Cleary Boulevard that had apparently collided.

One of the involved vehicles, a minivan, had extensive damages to its front end. A red-colored vehicle was also extensively damaged, according to various sources. Part of that vehicle was seen in the trees near the median.

Paramedics were observed at the scene. At least one person lost their life in the collision, however, no one involved has been identified at this time. Authorities in Fort Lauderdale continue to investigate the details of the incident.

Southbound drivers were asked to exit at Cleary Boulevard while crews worked to secure the scene. Drivers headed north were forced to u-turn and head toward Broward Boulevard. Authorities advised drivers to avoid the area for the time that the scene was active with responders.
