Miramar, FL - Wrong-Way Driver Causes Multi-Vehicle Collision with Injuries on Florida’s Turnpike

Miramar, FL (November 28, 2021) – A driver in Miramar was arrested after he caused a multi-vehicle accident that sent one person to the hospital with injuries, according to information from the Florida Highway Patrol. The wreck happened around 4:40 a.m. Sunday, November 28.

Sources say the accident happened on Florida’s Turnpike when a silver Honda, a gray Honda, a black Lexus, and a tractor-trailer were involved in a crash. The wreck was caused by the driver of the Lexus, identified as Ciazaris Emilio Rodriguez, 43, who was headed south in the northbound lanes.

He struck the wall on the left shoulder and was redirected back toward the center lane. Investigators stated that he then collided with the silver Honda, which caused the gray Honda to collide with the tractor-trailer after swerving to the right to avoid striking the two other vehicles.

One of the involved drivers was transported to an area hospital in order to receive treatment for their injuries. Minor injuries were reported otherwise, though no one involved has been identified at this time.

Police in Miramar continue to investigate. We hope for the full recovery of the injured victims.
